Materials for Implementers
Anyone contemplating adding the NASG to their maternal health program should consider some basic questions about the need for the NASG, the context in which it might be used, and any characteristics in the context that might make it more compelling to use the NASG or might create barriers to NASG implementation. The Decision Trees, in particular, will be helpful for deciding IF and HOW to incorporate NASGs. There are also Logbooks for keeping track of NASG outcomes and process indicators, which will be helpful in evaluating the utility of the NASG. There are international guidelines for implementation. The “Cleaning and Decontamination Protocol” contains an interactive Excel Spreadsheet that individual locations can use to determine the proper mix of water and bleach for decontamination and reuse. There is important information on where to purchase NASGs. Finally, you will findl bibliography of papers about NASG use in a variety of contexts.
